The Kuwait Society for Formative Arts (KSFA) organized between 16-27 February 1999 the 14th art Exhibition to commemorate the 25th National Day of the State of Kuwait on 25th February. Many artists from the GCC have participated in this large art event.
Mr. Mahmoud Al-Radwan, Chairman of the Council of Directives addressed the participants in the event. He first welcomed Kuwait's guests as well as the advent of the occasion .He said that arts should achieve their noble aims: deepening of individuals' artistic tastes of beauty, and added that KSFA showed, since its creation in 1967, increasing interest in promoting this sense of beauty in people. And those "HALA FEBRUARY" festivities in the country were one good opportunity to express our welcome to our GCC brothers, who are here to celebrate this national occasion through participating in this art exhibition. Al-Radwan said also "I avail myself of this opportunity to thank H.H. the Amir of Kuwait and, H.H. The Crown Prince for patronizing plastic arts movement in Kuwait. he also congratulated winners at this exhibition, adding that this never means that their paintings only are worthy of interest, as many others deserve deer awards as well. THE HORSE EXHIBITION

Lidia Al-Qattan

The horse in my exhibition is actually symbolic of the message it conveys .
Take for instance PARENTHOOD , expressed in the animal behavior of the mother towards her young ,it is more attractive to human ,than a human example .
horse1.jpgAt other stages of behavior the horse symbolizes the forward movement , the going-ahead , the ebullient spirit of youth , the ecstasy of love , the power of freedom ,and the rebellious spirit of mankind .

I began the exhibition with ten paintings related to parenthood : from the birth of the child to the teenager stage when parents love and understanding is of critical importance , for the child to reach adulthood comparatively free of mental complexes, which are the mainspring of trouble later in life and obstacles to success and happiness .
The rest of the paintings deal with cosmopolitan social issues.

The exhibition consisted of 30 paintings and one sculpture (head of a horse)
